AI co-host and editor FAQ

How the AI co-host and the video editor work, what they cost, and what they don’t do yet.

What is HeisenBERT?

HeisenBERT is an AI co-host for YouTube live streams, video recordings and podcasts. Bert sits on screen next to you, listens, looks things up on the web while you talk and answers out loud, with sources. Helpers fact-check what you say, answer your live chat, and write the replay’s title, description, chapters and thumbnails. Afterwards, a browser editor cuts the recording by its transcript, adds captions, finds moments for Shorts and publishes to YouTube.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Bert runs in your browser: Chrome, Edge or Safari on a computer. You record or go live from the Studio page, with your camera and microphone.

Which platforms can I stream to?

YouTube, Twitch, Kick, TikTok and LinkedIn, and any platform that gives you a server URL and stream key, several at once: 2 on Creator, 4 on Pro. Bert answers live chat and thanks supporters on YouTube and Twitch; publishing the replay’s title and chapters works with YouTube.

Can I edit my recordings and streams?

Yes. Open a recording in your library and press Edit: trim, split, reorder and join takes, set each clip’s volume, or make a transcript (1 credit a minute, kept with the recording) and cut by deleting words, remove pauses and filler words in one click. On Creator and Pro you can also add captions, crop to vertical, level the audio, add your intro and logo, and let the AI find retakes and moments for Shorts and write titles and chapters. Your browser renders the result into a new recording. Tick “Save a copy to Recordings” when you go live and the stream lands in your library too.

What can the editor do on the Free plan?

The basic editor: a 1 GB library, uploads that fit in it, trim, split, join and reorder, clip volume, undo with full history and saved edits, and transcripts paid from your 20 monthly credits, with cut by words and remove pauses and filler words. Exports carry a small HeisenBERT watermark. Captions, vertical crop, level audio, intro and logo, thumbnails, .srt downloads, the AI tools and publishing to YouTube are on Creator and Pro.

Can the editor make YouTube Shorts?

On Creator and Pro. Make a transcript, press Find moments for Shorts, and pick one: the edit is trimmed to that moment, cropped to vertical 9:16 centred on your face, and captioned. Publish it to YouTube from the editor; vertical videos up to 3 minutes become Shorts.

Can I upload my own videos?

Yes: press Upload a video on the Recordings page (MP4, MOV or WebM), then edit it like a Studio recording. On Creator and Pro a file can be up to 20 GB and 4 hours; on Free it has to fit in your 1 GB library. Need more room on a paid plan? Add 50 GB for 100 credits a month. If your library ends up over its limit, for example when a plan ends, we email you and keep everything for 30 days so you can download it.

Can I practise before going live?

Yes, on every plan. Press Practice in the Studio: practice viewers write in the Live chat tab and react to what you say, and nothing is streamed or recorded. When you end it you get your pace, longest silence and filler words, plus three tips. Listening costs 0.25 credits a minute; Bert’s answers cost the usual voice rate.

Can I react to other people’s videos?

Yes, with a “Screen, you and Bert” scene. Paste the video’s YouTube link and the Studio credits it in the picture and, when you publish an edit, in the description. Ask Bert about what’s on screen and he looks at it right then (one picture per question, billed with the answer; you can turn that off in the scene). The scene can lower the video’s sound while you or Bert talk, and the Studio shows how much of the last few minutes was your own voice: YouTube favors reactions that add real commentary. We never download videos from YouTube, and YouTube’s Content ID can stop a live stream that plays someone else’s video, so react to what you have the rights to.

Can I mark moments for Shorts while I record?

Yes. While you record or stream with a copy going to your library, say “Hey Bert, clip that” or press Mark moment, and on a live stream a sudden burst in the chat marks one by itself. The marks show on the editor’s timeline, and Find moments for Shorts (Creator and Pro) builds around them first. Marking is free.

Can my fans and clippers repost my clips?

Yes, with your clip kit. In Recordings, press Add to clip kit on the clips you want shared, set how to credit you and your rules, and share the link: a public page where anyone with it can play and download those clips. Search engines don’t list it, New link stops the old one, and clips leave it when you take them out or they expire. Want to pay clippers per view? Put your link in a Whop Content Rewards campaign. The clip kit is on every plan.

Does Bert remember my viewers?

On Creator and Pro, yes, if you leave “Remember regulars” on for the channel. Bert counts who comes back across streams, welcomes regulars back by name, and keeps a few harmless notes (like “plays bass”) after each stream, never anything private. You can see and delete it all on the Audience page; a viewer is forgotten 30 days after their last visit.

How close am I to the YouTube Partner Program?

Connect your YouTube channel and allow read-only YouTube Analytics: the channel page and your dashboard show your subscribers and watch hours against what YouTube asks for, and when you’ll get there at your pace. From February 1, 2027, new channels need 8,000 watch hours instead of 4,000.

Can Bert moderate my live chat?

Yes, on Creator and Pro, for YouTube and Twitch. Per channel, Bert can flag spam, scams, links, harassment, hate and your own blocked words for you, or remove them as they arrive and give repeat offenders a 5-minute timeout. He never bans anyone permanently on his own, never removes a paid message, and never answers or shows a flagged one on screen. You can also remove, time out or ban from the Live chat tab. It costs under 1 credit per 100 messages.

Does Bert interrupt me?

Only if you want him to. Pick how he listens: Always listening (he hears everything, checks your facts and speaks up when it adds something), When called (quiet until you say “Hey Bert”, detected on your computer) or Push to talk (only when you press the mic or type).

How does the live fact-checking work?

The fact-checker listens for names, dates and numbers while you talk and checks them on the web. If something doesn’t hold up, Bert can mention it on camera or mark it for the edit, with the source.

How fast does Bert answer?

About 3.5 seconds with premium voices (Creator and Pro) and about 4.5 seconds with standard voices, from when you stop talking to when he starts.

Which languages does Bert speak?

English on the Free plan. Creator and Pro add Romanian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, 9 languages in all. The chat replier answers viewers in their own language.

What are credits?

Everything Bert does uses credits from one monthly balance. A minute of talking costs 1.5 credits with a standard voice or 2 with a premium voice, a fact-check 2, titles and chapters 2, two thumbnail drafts 20, and an hour of streaming 5 per platform. Typing to Bert and recording are free. On Free, credits refill on the 1st. On Creator and Pro, each 30 days you pay for adds the plan’s credits to what you have left, so unused credits carry over as long as you renew. Extra credit packs last 12 months.

How do plans renew, and what if I miss the date?

Plans run 30 days at a time. Pay for the next 30 days by hand (from 7 days before your plan is due, and we email you 48 hours before), or turn on auto-renew and your card is charged each month. If the due date passes, your plan keeps working for 48 hours. After that your account moves to Free: unused plan credits expire (top-up credits stay), and your library is download-only for 30 days before anything over Free’s 1 GB is deleted, oldest first. Renew within those 30 days and nothing is deleted.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. The Free plan has 20 credits a month, about 13 minutes of talking, with text chat, Studio recordings and the basic editor, all with a watermark, and a 1 GB library. No card needed. Going live and the helpers start on Creator.

Can I change how Bert looks and sounds?

Yes. On Creator and Pro you can rename him, change his colours, shape and voice, and brief him on your channel. Pro can design a whole new character from a description.

Is Bert always right?

No. Bert is an AI and can be wrong, even with sources. He shows where answers come from so you can check anything that matters before you publish.

What happens to my recordings and voice?

Recordings are yours: they’re kept in your library (1 GB on Free, 25 GB on Creator, 100 GB on Pro) and you can download them any time. Speech is turned into text to answer you and isn’t used to train AI models. The privacy policy has the details.
