About HeisenBERT

An AI co-host for people who make videos. Here is where the name comes from, and who is behind it.

Why “HeisenBERT”

It’s a play on Werner Heisenberg, the German physicist behind the uncertainty principle, and an inspiration to our founder, whose own name happens to end in “-bert” too.

BERT is also a nod to Google’s BERT, the 2018 language model that taught machines to read a word in the context of everything around it. It led to the models that power assistants today.

And in German, heißen means “to be called”: Ich heiße Bert is how you say “I’m Bert”. Make your own character and he goes by whatever name you give him.

Where it started

HeisenBERT began as an experiment in AI and randomness. Several models passed ideas to each other, and nobody knew what would come out until it did. The particle face was born there, as the resident spirit of the experiment. People liked talking to him more than anything else on the site, so we gave him a real job: sitting next to you while you record.

What Bert does today

Everything we build is for people who make videos: talking on camera, going live, and turning the recording into something worth publishing.

Video and audio mixing happen on your own computer, so your camera feed never has to leave your browser unless you save a recording or go live.

The company

HeisenBERT is built and operated by Chronic Qual SRL, a software company based in Romania. We build web products and AI tools, and HeisenBERT is our own product.
